A bill aims to authorize the National Highway Council (CONAVI) to provide maintainance services to minor works, which could use specific target resources.
The initiative, presented by legislator Humberto Vargas, is a reform to several CONAVI laws’s articles.
Vargas declared that road congestion in Costa Rica is practically a national emergency.
He explained that in order to alleviate this problem, experts from Conavi, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT) and the National Laboratory of Materials and Structural Models (LANAMME) of the University of Costa Rica have pointed out the importance of a series of specific improvements in the road to eliminate traffic congestion.
The lawmaker pointed out that the proposal is to address minor works to bus stops, crossing improvements, road widening, among others.
