The legislative group of the Christian Social Unity Party (PUSC) presented a bill to encourage and promote the recruitment of young people aged 18 to 25 years old who are unemployed and in a condition of social risk or vulnerability.
The initiative, promoted by legislator Luis Vásquez, is called the Law on the creation of the Youth Employment System (SEJOVEN) and it proposes incentives for the promotion and protection of employment of young people.
It aims to provide young people with greater opportunities for training and access to the labor market.
The respective company that applies it would receive a set of incentives related to expense deductions from income tax and social security payments to the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS), the Social Development Fund and Family Allowances (FODESAF) and the National Institute of Learning (INA).
Those companies located in less-developed areas will receive a territorial incentive for the recruitment of young residents of the respective canton,.
According to the proposal, the National Superintendence of Youth Employment, integrated to the Ministry of Labor, would also be created.
