Yesterday afternoon, an emergency call alerted authorities about a particular situation In San Rafael de Alajuela: a box with radioactive-warning labels was found.
According to the Fire Department’s Press Office, the box was completely closed and when checking it, authorities verified that it was storing a device called hydrometer.
This is used by construction companies to measure the density of soils, in this case asphalt or road.
Authorities ignore if it was forgotten by a company or if someone stole it and someone else left it there.
It is worth mentioning that although it is radioactive material, authorities explained that it is not exposed and it doesn’t represent any risk. In fact, specialized equipment studied the box.
