A Costa Rican created an electronic bus fare collection system that would eliminate the use of cash

Isaac Christopher Portocarrero is 23 years and he is the founder and CEO of Go Pass Company, the only company that offers an Electronic Bus Fare Collection System that would eliminate the use of cash.

However, creating things is not new for this entrepreneur: when he was 19 years old, he designed a device called “universal communicator” to help blind and deaf people, which made him win the second place in Intel’s Intrenacional Fair of Science and Technology.

Regarding his current venture, Portocarrero said the idea was born in a period of his life when he started to travel a lot by bus, which made him start thinking about a way to improve the experience of public transport. This momento coincided with his studies at the Costa Rican Institute of Technology. He started looking for investors until one was interested in the project and referred him to Carao Ventures to accelerate it and his company was born.

For this young entrepreneur, who works with an interdisciplinary team, ranging from 7 to 9 people, being a general manager at his age, can be complicated:

generation gap puts you limits, but if you do a good job, there won’t be any problem. People appreciate that a lot and gives you the opportunity to grow.

The young businessman explained that Go Pass is a system by which people can make purchases and pay for services through digital devices without using cash, guaranteeing security not only for users, but also for entrepreneurs affiliated to the system.

According to Portocarrero, users can purchase a card in more than 20,000 places around the country. By doing so, cards can be reloaded or linked to a bank account to pay on buses.
