Ministers and representatives from Côte d’Ivoire will visit Costa Rica in order to learn about some environmental processes that have been developed in the Central American country.
Kifah Sasa, leader of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Costa Rica, said that the delegation will remain until Friday.
Sasa informed that the delegation had 13 people from the government of Côte d’Ivoire and different ministries, such as the Ministry of Water and Forestry, the Ministry of Environment and the Planning Ministry. In addition, Sasa declared that they aim to learn about the progress Costa Rica has had in different environmental issues.
Some of the topics that will be discussed are related to the formulation of a strategy to reduce emissions from forest degradation.
They are interested in knowing about the National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC), and how communities are involved. They are also interested in activities for the conservation of biodiversity,
stated Sasa.
The leader of the mission, announced that the importance of such visits is that Costa Rica is a world leader in the environmental area, but those words are worthless if other countries cannot learn from its experience.
