A 35-year-old man was arrested in Liberia, for allegedly committing two rapes in 2010 and 2011.
During the detention, the subject locked himself up and self-inflicted wounds with a knife in his neck. The lesions were superficial.
Apparently, the man acted in deserted, dark places and he covered his face. The subject used a weapon to intimidate his victims and thus sexually abused them. In addition, he took away valuable belongings.
After a blood sample, the genetic markers were positive with the collected samples, product of the medical examinations practiced to one of the victims.
The suspect did not have precautionary measures and in March he was informed of the respective trial, where he was declared in default. The court ordered his capture but, according to the OIJ, it was difficult to do so because the man evaded authorities.
