Santa Claus came to vacation in Costa Rica this year. He arrived in Juan Santamaría Airport in his sleigh with a pipe in hand, surrounded by typical animals of the country.
While everyone imagines him in a cold scenario, the truth is that he came to Costa Rica to enjoy the tropical climate.
This is the idea operator Aeris, Juan Santamaria International Airport wants to convey with a sculpture placed in the waiting room.
The idea is to show how, even the Santa Claus we all know, the one in the snow, comes to our country to vacation. While in his country is snowing, he comes here to enjoy our nature, our beaches, he comes to surf and enjoy,”
said Lucia Gutiérrez, commercial manager of Aeris.
The sculpture, made of Styrofoam, is part Aeris’ campaign called “Infinite Paradise”, which aims to highlight Costa Rica’s biodiversity. This year, Aeris won an award in Argentina for this initiative.
This Santa accompanies those who leave and land in the country through Alajuela from the second week of November and will remain until December 31st.
According to Gutiérrez, the sculpture has had a very good acceptance. Renowned chef Doris Goldgewicht, for example, posted photos of the “very original” work on her Facebook account.
The sculpture cost $ 9,800 (just over ¢ 5 million).
