On Friday, a woman was arrested under suspicion of extorting a 20-year-old lady. Apparently, she was charging her money because of the risks of her fake pregnancy.
It all started when the victim knew a man through a social network. Once she felt confident with him, he told her that her pregnant girlfriend had complaint because he chatted and talked to her and as consequence, he had assaulted her. Due to the attack, he stated that they had to induce labor and the baby was born with several problems.
The man told the victim that she had to help his girlfriend with some money not to be sued. He asked for 700 thousand colones for the baby’s treatment.
The young woman paid 530,000 colones in small amounts. However, in a new telephone conversation, the suspect explained that the situation had worsened and they needed 4 million colones.
The girl realized it was a suspicious situation and she filed a complaint in the judicial police. She planned to meet the man’s girlfriend. Once the suspect was identified, OIJ managed to stop her in a park, seized the money, her cellphone and her partner’s debit card. The man has not been arrested yet.
