According to Hidalgo, the fiscal issue must be resolved in six months

The outgoing Legislative Assembly could not approve the fiscal project presented by the government of Luis Guillermo Solís and it will be up to these new legislators to decide on that issue.

The president of the Congress elected on Tuesday morning, Carolina Hidalgo, said that first legislators must be given time to analyze the text and have a clear picture. For her, in the first six months of management they should already have the approval of the project, which became key for the future of the country’s finances.

Although it is true that we must give them that space, the country requires that a decision be made and I believe that in the first six months we should demonstrate that we can resolve the fiscal issue,”

said Hidalgo.

The Law of Strengthening of Public Finances includes the transformation of the Sales tax into the Value Added Tax, which will tax goods and services at 13%.
