Adopt a homeless animal and save a life!

That was the opportunity offered by an adoption fair on Saturday, organized by the Animal Rescue Association (ARA) and Universidad Hispanoamericana.

Currently, Costa Rica has an alarming number of abandoned and homeless animals. In the case of dogs the number is close to half a million. This situation has become a national problem that must be addressed as soon as possible, “

said ARA through a statement.

At the moment, there are 60 sheltered animals (dogs and cats as well) that need a home. The expenses are 200,000 colones per month but that could be higher if any of them need medical attention, so donations to the shelter are also accepted.

The Animal rescue officials met with those interested in adopting and conducted an interview. Then they donated 10 thousand colones, which are intended to fund the organization.

Also, the new owners paid 5,000 colones for the pet’s plate. All the animals that are given up for adoption have been vaccinated, neutered, and dewormed”

added the association.

This Saturday was the day of homeless animals.
