The intense snowstorm Grayson, which plagues a good part of the United States, caused the cancellation of six flights between Costa Rica and the North American country.
The effects of the meteorological conditions and the high traffic of passengers, have made the airport structures of the country struggled. According to the Operations Department of Aeris, concessionaire of the Juan Santamaría airport, these cancellations were registered on January 4th, by United Airlines. Halfway through the week, Avianca Airline also announced affected flights arriving and departing from Alajuela.
For the rest of the days there have been no cancellations leaving San José to the north of the continent, specifically for climate reasons. However, delays are reported, although they are not significant.
On Saturday, the Directorate of Migration and Immigration reported that air traffic saturated the airports Juan Santamaría in Alajuela and Daniel Oduber in Liberia. The excess demand was due to the impact of the weather in the United States and the large influx, typical of the season.
However this Sunday the Migration Press Office indicated that everything was working normally , despite the number of flights.
