Ambassador Zúñiga resigned

Chancellor of the Republic, Manuel González, confirmed that Costa Rican ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Zaida Zúñiga, resigned after being questioned for her appointment process.

González defended Zúñiga and said that the designation was made in strict respect of the law, taking into account the professional qualities and suitability of the ambassador to be in charge of a position in the Foreign Service.

Zúñiga’s administrative and personal pension process, although legal as determined by the Dirección Nacional de Pensiones, was irregular, affirmed the Chancellery.

Zúñiga requested to give effect to her resignation on August 15th, in order to conclude some important, pending projects of the Embassy, such as moving to a new building since the current one is in poor conditions.
