On Monday, an American tourist filed a complaint for having been raped by a Nicaraguan man in Tortuguero on Sunday night.
After the complaint, the victim was assisted by the team specialized in gender violence issues, as part of the protocol established to deal with these cases.
A line-up was conducted on Tuesday night and the woman identified the man named Cháves.
The Deputy Prosecutor’s Office of Pococí will request six months of preventive prison against the man to whom the alleged crime of rape is attributed. The hearing against the suspect will take place from 4:30 pm, in the Criminal Court of the area.
The accused was arrested on Tuesday in Tortuguero by officers of the Operational Support Group of the Ministry of Public Security. The same sector was the scenario of the violent murder of a Spanish tourist a week ago.
