Animal advocates demand that the law be enforced

The fight for the protection of animals and pets did not stopped with the approval of the law. Now, those who advocate this cause ask for speedy judicial authorities to simplify compliance with regulations.

To this end, the ninth march against animal abuse organized by the Association of Animal Welfare (ABA) was held this Sunday.

Dozens of people gathered in the vicinity of Parque Central and walked to Plaza de la Democracia, where various activities were planned for the benefit of dogs, cats and other animals.

We ask the Judicial Branch, the National Animal Health Service (SENASA) and the Public Force for rapid implementation of the law. Start receiving complaints. We understand they have to go through and adjustment period, but, as we speak, there are many cases of abuse, neglect and fights,”

said Juan Carlos Peralta, president of ABA.

Almost 30 organizations representing the animal movement, four private companies and the 30 animals -dogs and cats – rescued in the recent pilgrimage to Cartago concentrated on the site.

The animals that were abandoned in the pilgrimage are in good condition and up for adoption.
