App to file complaints in the Ombudsman’s Office

You will no longer have to leave your home to file a complaint with the Defensoría de los Habitantes, as the entity has enabled a free and quick application for this purpose.

The “defensoriacr” application is available from today and you may use it to denounce cases linked to the provision of services in public institutions.

This app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Android Play Store and, in addition to reporting, it allows users to know details about the institution as well as addresses of offices across the country.

Also, official positions on different human rights issues will be included in bulletins, videos and audios. Surveys will also be conducted through the app.

According to the Superintendence of Telecommunications (SUTEL), in 2014, 40.3% of the country’s inhabitants used smartphones.

For the Ombudsman these figures show that mobile devices have become an indispensable tool through which many people access information easily and quickly. Hence the importance of this new channel of communication,”

said the entity.

In addition to the app, the institution launched a more user-friendly site, within the framework of the celebration of International Human Rights Day on December 10th.
