The Regulatory Authority for Public Services (ARESEP) approved increases in the prices of gasoline and diesel, due to rising oil prices in international markets.
Super gasoline will go up 16 ¢ to settle at 518 ¢ per liter. The regular type, will have an increase of 15 ¢ and thus the liter will cost ¢ 498.
The largest increase will be applied to diesel, which will rise ¢ 32 , so to pump a liter will amount to ¢ 498 .
The increases were approved due to surges in international oil prices between April 28 and May 2. The report explains that hikes were related to a great forest fire in Canada, an unexpected decline in inventories of Saudi Arabia. As well as higher sales of gas in the northern hemisphere by consumers in vacations going toward recreational areas.
