The Regulatory Authority for Public Services (ARESEP) would decrease the budget for 2017 in ¢ 700 million, after filing a readjustment with the Comptroller General of the Republic.
The reduction would take place in remunerations, consultancy and operating expenses, which arise from a decrease in expenditure plan implemented by the new administration.
During the period 2014-2016, the budget of Aresep grew, on average, 14% per year. Today we present a strong institutional commitment to the proposed reduction of 700 million colones for our 2017 budget,”
said the Controller General, Roberto Jiménez.
According to ARESEP, the draft canons for 2017, sent in the previous administration consigned an increased charge of 11%, but after a thorough review of the budget, a reduction of 4% was achieved compared to the amount requested initially.
In addition, Jiménez pointed out that in he seeks to improve efficiency in the allocation of the resources of the institution with a responsible management of public resources.
