Aserrí, Desamparados and Alajuelita affected by the rains

The National Emergency Commission (CNE) dealt with more than 76 emergencies in the cantons of Aserrí, Desamparados and Alajuelita, due to the heavy rains recorded on October 4th.

the CNE also dealt with almost 20 incidents in Alajuela, Cartago and Puntarenas where there was no greater intensity.

Sigifredo Pérez, chief of operations of the Commission, said that in these cantons some families moved to the homes of friends or relatives while the water level dropped. In addition, the institution mobilized some resources to deal with the emergency.

The municipal committees are activated, as are the first response institutions. A CNE geologist evaluates some of the land in order to rule out the risk of landslides.

The National Meteorological Institute (IMN) forecasted heavy rains in the Central Valley and the Pacific Slope for the weekend. Caution is recommended for those who live near areas vulnerable to flooding or near slopes.
