Assault alert in the vicinity of Mexico Hospital

The pedestrian bridge in front of Mexico Hospital became a hot spot for thieves and dozens of victims. Therefore, a group of officials of that medical center, located in La Uruca, requested the intervention of the Ministry of Public Security, to stop the wave of crimes in the vicinity of the hospital.

According to Vilma Campos, Administrative-Financial Director of the Hospital, more than 200 officials have been assaulted while crossing the bridge to move to Alajuela and Heredia.

We’re tired of being victims of robberies, some of them repeatedly, basically in the area of the bridge that crosses the other side of the road, because it is mostly personnel who live in the provinces of Alajuela and Heredia. This is why we request the reinforcement of security from the ministry,”

said Campos.

Patients and their families have also suffered similar situations. The Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) reported this week a group of officers of the Public Force is monitoring the area of the hospital in order to avoid these crimes.

The police will be guarding – on patrols and motorcycles – from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

While it is expected to put an end to these thugs, officers of the Public Force remind the population that first of all, the most important thing when you are the victim of a robbery, is to protect life, so there is no need to resist. In addition, they indicate it is extremely important to file a complaint if you are a victim of a robbery.
