The bridge over Blanco River, in Guayabo de Bagaces, Guanacaste, was was destroyed when hurricane Otto hit the country in November 2016.
For several days, it was not possible to travel through this sector, because the old structure was in the channel, in pieces, among trees, stones and mud.
However, the problem didn’t last long. Workers of the Costa Rican Institute of Electricity (ICE) decided to build a new bridge and it is already working.
According to the ICE, 10 employees worked for 3 weeks until they built this 13-meter-long and 3.83-meter-wide structure.
The reconstruction work was carried out in coordination with the National Emergency Commission (CNE), which allocated the necessary resources.
In addition, the original bridge had no pedestrian crossing, but the new structure has one and now people can walk on it.
