The Investigations, Analysis and Intelligence Department of the Professional Migration Police with the functional direction of the Office of the Prosecutor of San José, made the arrest of a Nicaraguan man named Medina for the crime of identity theft and ideological falsification in the surroundings of the Fuerza y Luz campus in Goicoechea.
In 1999, the accused obtained the migratory category of permanent resident authorized by the Executive authority by decree number 27457-G-RE of November 24th, 1998, using the identity of a man named Simonez, which gave him the opportunity to acquire rights and obligations in governmental and non-governmental entities.
The foreigner has active accounts in state banks and other public entities, where he used the impersonated identity. The Management of Investigations was able to verify that Medina remained in the country since 1999 performing various tasks, especially in private security.
The foreigner recognized a Costa Rican son in the year 2017 with his true identity, presumably with the objective of obtaining the migratory category of permanent resident due to family links with a Costa Rican.
Medina was transferred to the Public Ministry of San José for the corresponding procedure.
