On Wednesday afternoon the National Emergency Commission (CNE) issued a green alert for the communities of Talamanca, Limón, Matina, Siquirres, Guácimo and Pococí, of the Huetar Caribe region, as well as in the Northern Region where there is an alert in San Carlos, Upala, Guatuso, Los Chiles, Sarapiquí and Río Cuarto.
The authorities took the measure due to the fifth cold front of the year, which causes persistent rains in these regions. The atmospheric event will bring persistent rainy conditions as well as strong winds.
The conditions are expected to last until Saturday.
Experts recommend monitoring sites vulnerable to flooding and landslides; in case of strong winds close doors, windows and remove items from balconies and terraces; protect your pets and in case of emergency do not hesitate to contact the 9-1-1 emergency line.
