According to mayor Gilberto Monge, from 18 to 20 houses in Quebrada Honda, in Mora, will be demolished first thing in the morning.
The houses are in a high-risk area due to the landslides that occured last Friday in Alto de San Juan of QuitirrisÃ, where at least 4 hectares of land of a coffee farm, were affected by the heavy rains.
Since last Saturday, the mayor of Mora has warned about the imminent danger if rains continue.
From that day, the Municipal Police and the security forces started the eviction of 20 families that were living in the area. Although it was informed that just 5 families did not want to leave, there are reports that some have returned.
Authorities gave time to people to leave with their belongings. However, if they do not leave, officials will proceed to forcibly evict them.
Mayor Gilberto Monge said that some of the people living there are renting the houses, so the request is to look for new places. For those who are owners, authorities are working with the Ministry of Housing and the Joint Institute for Social Aid (IMAS) to find solutions.
