Archaeologist Iphigenia Quintanilla, known for her 25-year study of the pre-Columbian spheres, inspected the entire route of the Sardinal aqueduct since July and assured that the trajectory respects the archaeological remains in the area.
The specialist did identify a couple of sites with archaeological remains, but these are not in the way of public works.
In her opinion, if there were any undisturbed remains, they would have to stop, delimit the area and coordinate with the National Museum for the archaeological rescue, but until now nothing like that has come up.
According to Acueductos y Alcantarillados, the entity will continue with the construction of this aqueduct that will take water to the population of El Coco and Ocotal.
The work has technical, environmental and legal permits, as confirmed by a ruling of the Constitutional Chamber on January 2017.
