Baby deer was rescued from fire in Guanacaste

Officials of the Fire Department rescued a baby white-tailed deer after a fire that occurred at Playa Potrero in Santa Cruz de Guanacaste.

Josué Lara, spokesman of the entity, reported that the staff of the Huacas station rescued the animal alive.

The authorities coordinated with personnel from the rescue center in the area to take care of it. There is no information about his mother.

The Fire Department calls on citizens to avoid forest fires, especially since cases have been increasing, compared to the same period of the previous year.

During 2019, 29 forest fires have been dealt, which have consumed 3,568 hectares in different areas of the country, that is, 17 forest fires and 1,781 hectares more than those treated in the same period of 2018.

The province with the highest attention to forest fires is Guanacaste (15), followed by Puntarenas (8), then San José (4) and finally Cartago (2).
