Bancrédito will lay off 300 employees

On July 14rh, Banco Crédito Agrícola de Cartago (Bancrédito) will lay off about 300 employees.
The members of the union were notified of this decision on Tuesday after a meeting with the board and management of the entity.

In April, the bank registered a total of 694 employees before the General Superintendency of Financial Institutions.

That’s the information we’re handling at the last moment. All public service offices and all those employees will be fired,”

said Julio Baltodano, secretary of the Bancrédito union.

Gina Ampieé, a member of the Board of Directors of Bancrédito, confirmed the layoffs and assured that they have an excess of payroll: card sales, capture control, and that as of July 14th, they will talk to clients who still have money to coordinate the withdrawal.

We will also start closing offices,”

said Ampieé.

This, in accordance with the provision of the Governing Council of May 26th, in order to remove Bancrédito from financial intermediation, which will impact the commercial operation of the Bank with a reduction of 90%.

The entity is looking for cooperation from other financial entities in order to find new job opportunities for the largest possible number of staff that must leave their position.
