A 15-member gang of car thieves was sentenced to a total of 108 years in prison, according to the Criminal Court of Alajuela.
The sentences were issued against 13 men and 2 women, who were investigated between 2012 and 2014 for stealing vehicles in different areas of the country. From 9 to 17 years, the sum of the sentences reaches 108 years in jail.
After stealing the cars, the suspects extorted the victims so that in exchange for returning the vehicles they should paid a sum of money.
