If you want to go to San José, yo need to transfer in Heredia

The Costa Rican Railways Institute (INCOFER) confirmed that in order to travel from Alajuela to San José, a person has to transfer to a new unit in Heredia. This involves buying a new ticket and boarding another transport unit.

This was explained by María Fernanda Arias, spokeswoman for INCOFER before a consultation on the implementation of the service.

On March 27th, the Public Services Regulatory Authority (ARESEP) confirmed that the fare for the Alajuela-Heredia service will be 585 colones. In addition, the cost of the transfer in Heredia-San José route is still at 420 colones.
