Biofuels and biolubricants to be tested

The benefits of biofuels and biolubricants will be put to the test on Thursday.

Biodegradable Energies, Agronegocios CR, Servicentro Cristo Rey, CEA Institute, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and Autotransports Cesmag, will test 100% national products.

The tests will be performed at La Capri stop, on Central Avenue, using a Mercedes Benz bus, which operates with vegetable fuels and oils.

The bus will leave from La Capri to Ochomogo to Cristo Rey service center.

Eladio Madriz, manager of Biodegradable Energies, commented that the purpose of the test is to demonstrate that the country can create sustainable products.

The bus will be operated with biodiesel made from vegetable oil and lubricated with oil made from higuerilla, in order to continue demonstrating that these are sustainable and totally viable products. In addition, they allow to encourage the agriculture of small and medium farmers in crops that provide the raw material for their manufacture,”

said Madriz.

The companies are committed to the production of alternatives to reduce energy dependence on fossil fuels, which would also help compliance with the Kyoto Protocol (an international agreement aimed at reducing the emissions of six greenhouse gases that cause global warming).
