On Tuesday afternoon, President Luis Guillermo Solís announced that the bridge over Virilla River on Route 1 in General Cañas Highway would be named Alfredo González Flores Bridge, according to the request he made to the Nominating Commission.
I am pleased to ask the Nominating Commission to name it after the former president Alfredo González Flores,
said the president.
For many years, the bridge has been known as La Platina and now it would be officially named after the man that ruled the country between 1914 and 1917.
