Buses cannot limit the number of seniors they transport

According to Zulema Villalta, president of the National Council for the Elderly (CONAPAM), buses cannot limit the number of seniors they receive on public transport.

The previous weekend, an user surnamed Fallas, reported through Facebook that a company that provides service from the capital refused to take her and another old adult arguing that they could not take more than 2 people over 65 years old per travel.

Villalta commented that although the buses have 2 preferential seats for seniors and 2 preferential seats for people with disabilities or pregnant women, that does not limit them to transport a specific number of elder people.

Villalta commented that despite this case, these complaints are ignored. In the first quarter of 2016, the CTP received 6 complaints of elder abuse, while CONAPAM received 14.
