The confidence of the business sector fell to its lowest level in the last decade, according to the results of the most recent Quarterly Business Survey prepared by the Union of Chambers (Uccaep).
The index accumulates 10 quarters of gradual deceleration. In the last measurement it reached a level of 5.3, while a year ago it was 6.2.
In addition, for the first time in five years, businessmen already point out that there is a deterioration in their activities, especially in sectors where economic activity has been falling steadily, such as agriculture, commerce and construction.
Jorge Araya, representative of the Union of Chambers, summarized that the perception for the rest of the year remains low.
In terms of employment, only one in four employers believes they will make new contracts during the remainder of the year. On the other hand, at least 8% of them estimate that they could make layoffs.
In the study, employers were asked what soft skills they value most when hiring. The majority responded that teamwork, good communication and logical reasoning.
Regarding the profiles, what is more complicated for the employer to achieve are average technicians, followed by graduates.
The main drawback to hire is the lack of experience, according to 48% of respondents.
