Businessmen defend Uber

The business sector gave its support to the service provided by the Uber transport company, whose operation is debated by the owners of taxi concessions.

We must live in realities and one of those realities is that Costa Ricans appreciate this type of service, so we believe it’s convenient to regulate the service and that everyone has clear rules as well as obligations,”

said Gonzalo Delgado, president of the Union of Chambers and Associations of the Private Sector (UCCAEP).

According to the representative of the business leadership, citizens are already tired of roadblocks like the ones the country faced this week. He also questioned the agreement reached by the government with the taxi drivers, in which other interested sectors did not participate.

The country is made up of many sectors and things cannot be facilitated to just one group, in that, we must be vehement. In addition, contradictory signals go against the freedom of choice of the majority, especially in a democratic society like ours,”

added Delgado.
