By participating in courses and trainings, dozens of children from Bajo Los Anonos at social risk find a way to see life with optimism, empowered with the desire to fight, learn and move forward.
However, the community center where these dreams are formed, could be closed.
The house where the community center Lifting Hands Foundation operates must be purchased or emptied. Therefore, there is an Internet campaign that seeks the help of all Costa Ricans.
The foundation needs $170,000 to buy the property and ensure children and young people have a space to play, learn and study in a healthy and safe manner.
The amount must be collected before January 31st, 2017. Otherwise the foundation will have to close its doors,”
explained the Foundation in a press release.
Since it began operating in 2012, this project has benefited more than 3,000 people in the community. Every day, this place receives about 60 boys and girls.
In the house, up to 10 courses are offered simultaneously, focused on the four pillars of the foundation: education, psychology, health and community development.
The children receive math, English, Portuguese, French, Capoeira and swimming lessons. In addition, there are courses for the mothers and fathers, such as technical support, electromechanical, cooking and sewing lessons, among others.
