Campaign to “catch” Uber drivers

Campaign against Uber

Uber opponents are launching a campaign through social media to “catch” Uber drivers and have traffic officers fine them.

According to the image sent via WhatsApp and Facebook, the idea is to book a trip through the app and take the driver to the location of a traffic officer. After the service is completed, they demand the law to be applied and record the whole episode with a phone camera. They are supposed to save the invoice and use their bank statements as evidence.

The image also states that the problem is not competition, but unfair competition, since Uber drivers do not contribute to the State, according to the statement.

Gilbert Ureña, from the National Taxi Drivers Forum said they are not behind the campaign and do not share the same values.

At no time, no organization from FENACOTAXI forum carries out a campaign against the informal service of this application by the pirate multinational, because we know that it is up to the authorities to apply to law,”

said Ureña.
