The Canadian Navy and the US Coast Guard seized 1.3 tons of cocaine in two operations off the coast of Central America, according to an announcement made by the Canadian Defense Department on Tuesday.
A first procedure allowed the confiscation of 834 kg of cocaine and the arrest of three alleged smugglers in a ship within the framework of the Caribbean operation.
The second operation included 478 kilos of cocaine and the arrest of three more people, according to the statement from the Canadian armed forces.
In the context of the fight against drug trafficking between Latin America and the North American sub-continent, Canadian coastal defense vessels are deployed in the eastern Pacific Ocean and in the Caribbean Sea, where patrols are carried out jointly with the US Coast Guard.
