On Tuesday afternoon, President-elect Carlos Alvarado met with the unions grouped in Patria Justa. The meeting started at 4 pm at the facilities of the INS building in the center of the capital.
The unions asked the future government to have leaders open to dialogue as heads of the institutions. Carlos Alvarado accepted that this is still being evaluated, but that few of the current leaders will continue their work at the head of the institutions.
According to the unions, it is necessary to unite efforts between the government and the workers to reach an agreement. The representatives of Patria Justa delivered a series of bullet points as an alternative plan to face this economic problem.
They do not agree on the plan that is discussed in the legislature now, but they are aware that it is a priority for the incoming President. The meeting ended at 6 o’clock in the afternoon with the hope that it will be repeated once the new government takes office.
Although the issue was not discussed at the meeting, trade unionist Albino Vargas emphasized that the demonstrations at the end of April and May remain.
