CELAC calls for extraordinary meeting to seek dialogue in Venezuela

The Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) will hold an extraordinary meeting on Tuesday in San Salvador to discuss support for an internal dialogue in Venezuela, confirmed Salvadoran Foreign Minister Hugo Martinez.

The meeting is confirmed (…). It will be held tomorrow (Tuesday) at ten o’clock in the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,”

said Martínez to the press in the plaza El Salvador del Mundo, which commemorated the International Labor Day.

The minister said that for “agenda reasons” some foreign ministers will not be able to attend, but will send their representatives, while other nations that do not have an embassy in El Salvador are not considering participating.

Martínez anticipated the possibility that the only theme of the meeting, which is the search for a dialogue in Venezuela, is not exhausted in Tuesday’s meeting and can continue in the ordinary meeting scheduled for the second half of May in the Dominican Republic.

The meeting of San Salvador was convened at the request of Venezuela to analyze the situation in that country.

We are clear that it cannot be an abstract dialogue, it has to be a dialogue with results,”

said the head of the Salvadoran diplomacy.
