On February 16th and 17th, the country will host the Ordinary Meeting of Ministers of the Central American Agricultural Council, whose main objective will be to coordinate strategies to ensure food security with a climate-friendly agriculture.
Minister of Agriculture, Luis Fernando Arauz, will attend the meeting along his counterparts, Mario Méndez from Guatemala and Orestes Fredesman from El Salvador.
In addition, the deputy Ministers of agriculture from Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama, will also participate.
The country will exercise its status as SICA Pro Tempore Presidency to present a strategy that makes adapting to climate change a priority for the region,” said the head of the national ministry, adding that they aim to promote “food security, poverty reduction and ‘climate action’ or mitigation of greenhouse gases , in line with the new Sustainable Development Goals from the United Nations.
