On Thursday morning, students from Cacique School in Guargo, Cartago, presented a prototype of a smart house, a robotic arm to solve Rubik’s Cube, cars that move to the beat of the music, others with advertising messages against smoking and a smart wheelchair with entertainment screen included, among other things.

Children in vulnerable situations and social risk are part of the Robotics Education Program, which seeks to raise interest in that area. This program is financed with resources from the economic fund of Garnier & Garnier Desarrollos Inmobiliarios and Zona Franca.

Laura Cruz, Garnier Sustainability Manager, explained that the idea is to start getting children interested in this area, so that in the future they are interested in being part of the workforce of the free zone of La Lima.

This is a social responsibility program in the community. We started 2 years ago, with schools of priority attention and children in high vulnerability. It is very interesting, because not only do they learn to create a robot, but they also learn how to solve problems, it helps them develop the ability to speak in public, to expose ideas and work in teams,”

said Cruz.
