Christiana Figueres, the Costa Rican candidate for Secretary General of the U.N., will be participating as one of the main panelists at the opening of the fourth meeting of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development of the United Nations Organization (UN), from July, 11th until July, 20th.
During her speech, Figueres said that any progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (ODS) requires vision, but also accountability and added that
history will judge us by the ability to make a difference in the quality of life of people living in marginalization and vulnerability.”
Figueres will continue her campaign to hold the general secretariat of the United Nations Organization by taking part in the “Leading the United Nations – A Global Town Hall with SG Candidates” on July, 12th.
On July, 13th she will participate in a public debate with the candidates for the general secretariat organized by the NGO 1for7Billion and she will also hold bilateral meetings with Security Council members and meetings with regional groups throughout the week.
