“Ciudad y Burguesía, San José de 1880-1930” is the new exhibition at Costa Rican National Museum (MNCR). It is part of the second edition of the Tour of Museums, which brings together the Museums of the Central Bank, Jade Museum and the MNCR with three exhibitions and a common theme; “City and utopias” that aims to analyze creatively, growth and conformation of the city, from the pre-Columbian era to contemporary times.
The exhibition shows through objects, watercolors, drawings and a collection of cards belonging to Mr. Álvaro Castro Harrigan, a “Europeanized” Costa Rican identity that bloomed in architecture, neighborhoods and fashion with a strong contrast between the social classes.
The MNCR opens from Tuesdays to Saturdays, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; It also opens on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 pm. the ticket price is 2,000 colones; it is free for children under 12 years old and adults over 65 years old. On Sunday they offer free admission for Costa Rican citizens.
