The National Emergency Commission (CNE) reported vertical slopes filures in three locations of Coto Brus: Canada, downtown San Vito, and Cueva del Sapo.
According to Blas Sánchez, geologist of the Commission, the first aerial inspections were made in the San Vito and Santa Rita areas.
What they have seen are very vertical slopes. Around four or six meters high at most, with a very vertical condition, without containment or stabilization measures and with poor water management,”
explained Sánchez.
Another problem in the area is the poor management of the soapy waters from the houses, which are thrown into the surrounding land and facilitate landslides.
The geologist is in the area assessing the situation, to work both with the Municipal Emergency Committees and the Municipality.
