Coastguard saves tourists who was dragged by a current

Isaac Rivera, Coast Guard of Caldera, Puntarenas, in charge of the boat SNG 32-3, managed to save the life of an American tourist, identified as Kyra Bryan, 20 years old, who was swimming in Jacó Beach last Saturday afternoon, according to the press department of the Ministry of Public Security.

According to the authorities,

the girl had been dragged by a marine current, at around two in the afternoon on Saturday, while swimming in Jacó beach, Garabito, Puntarenas.”

After receiving the alert with a report of what was happening, the lifeguard officers moved to the scene of the incident, since they were on a routine patrol near that place.

When locating the site of the emergency, Rivera jumped into the water to help the American tourist. He calmed her down and, in addition to preventing the currents from dragging her further, brought her to land in stable condition and handed her over to a group of lifeguards in Jacó.
