The Public Prosecutor’s Office filed a complaint against Jorge Chavarría, Attorney General of Costa Rica, for apparently not complying with his obligations.
This was confirmed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office. They reported that the complaint was forwarded to the Deputy Prosecutor’s Office for Probity, Transparency and Anti-Corruption.
We are following the same procedure as with the rest of cases that go to the Genereal Prosecutor’s Office, that is, without any privileged or differentiated treatment,”
they added.
The complaint was lodged by Roberto Mora Salazar, better known as the “Collector of the Fund,” because he says that Chavarria “fails to perform his duties” by ignoring the allegations that come to him.
Mora claims he denounced the case of a construction company that owes the State more than ¢ 1,600 million since July 2015. However, the Attorney General would have ignored such a complaint.
The Prosecutor also would have turned a blind eye on complaint against the hierarchs of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS), for the same issue.
From this Tuesday a reaction was requested from Jorge Chavarría, but until this moment no answer was obtained.
The Press Office of the Public Prosecutor’s Office said that it would be impossible to contact him for this, since he cannot refer to a complaint against him.
