On Monday afternoon, the Legislative Assembly requested the immediate intervention of the National Emergency Commission (CNE) due to the progress of Tropical Storm Otto, which could become a hurricane on Wednesday.
Legislators approved with 42 votes in favor and 2 against, a motion expressing concern caused by heavy rain since the weekend by atmospheric disturbance and that has mainly affected communities in the South Zone.
The motion indicates that the intervention is crucial to take care families who are isolated, without food, drinking water and medicine.
Lawmakers also made a call for the CNE to activate all emergency mechanisms due to the dangerous conditions experienced by the country, mainly in the Caribbean and the North Zone.
