Congress calls legislators to make progress on tax reform next week

The demonstrations have failed to have the necessary impact among the legislators, as the president of Congress, Carolina Hidalgo, announced that on Monday and Tuesday there will be extraordinary sessions in the Plenary to discuss the project of strengthening public finances.

This is because the report from the drafting commission is nearly ready and, from that moment, two days are enabled for the legislators to submit motions of reiteration, or those adjustments presented in the Special Commission of the Fiscal Reform.

The extraordinary sessions will be from 9:00 a.m. those two days of next week.

Some fractions have already announced their consent to submit motions, as is the case of National Restoration, which will seek to exonerate the basic basket, which was subject to a 1% tax on value added (VAT), while in the Christian Social Unity Party (PUSC) would consider that cooperatives pay rent. The National Liberation Party (PLN) would seek a way to save the salary disengagement for doctors.

However, groups of workers led by unions seek that the fiscal plan initiative be withdrawn because it will have an impact on the pocket of the working class.
