Congress extends session to study changes to the tax reform

The Congress agreed to extend the last session to discuss motions of reiteration to the Bill for Strengthening Public Finances on Wednesday morning.

Initially, the session was due to end at 12:30 p.m., and a motion was subsequently approved to extend it until 2:00 p.m., since several legislators claimed the two recesses created one hour of delay.

In the end they decided to extend the session until 7:00 p.m.

Carolina Hidalgo, president of the Congress, said that with this extension legislators had the opportunity to defend their motions in five minutes. In total, 368 motions of reiteration were presented.

The ones that weren’t discussed on Wednesday will be part of the group that will only be voted without a defense.

According to motion 208 bis of fast processing, the legislators had 6 sessions for this purpose, which began last Thursday and the other five are contemplated this week.

The discussion on the background of the project is expected to begin next week, for which each legislator has 10 minutes to speak. This would mean that the vote in the first reading may take place between Monday and Thursday.
