The country wants to boost the electric transportation and it has found a possible ally: energy distribution cooperatives.
The Consortium of Electric Cooperatives (CONELECTRICAS) announced that the bill for electric transport aims to establish that the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE) authorizes the power supply to electric cars in places where they work.
The proposal is supported by Coopelesca, Coopeguanacaste, Coopesantos and Coopealfaroruiz. According to authorities, the ministry would have to issue a permit on concessions that they already have.
Erik Rojas, manager of the consortium, explained that they plan to make available for users electric station systems so they can recharge their vehicles in different parts of the country.
Coopelesca, in San Carlos, is the first cooperative that built a system of this kind for users of the north.
If the plan succeeds, the ministry must guarantee the construction and commissioning of the electric station systems and cooperatives will assure the operation of -at least- a recharging center in each capital.
