Costa Rica and Chile, the only Latin American countries where you can drink water from the tap

A Canadian website that facilitates the purchase of tourist packages created a map of the countries where you can drink water from the tap without fear of getting sick.

According to Globehunters, in Latin America, this is possible only in Costa Rica and Chile. Other countries where water consumption is safe are Canada, Spain, Finland, Japan, Australia and Italy.

Although other nations also offer drinkable water from the tap, it might not have the highest quality. Tourists are not recommended to drink water directly from tap in: Mexico, Brazil, Nicaragua, Argentina, Turkey, India, China, Russia and Ukraine.

To create this map, information was gathered from the United States disaster prevention agency and the Center for Disease Control.

The World Health Organization (WHO) states that some factors that should be considered to say that liquid sources may be bad are: infectious agents, toxic chemicals and radiological contamination as risk factors.
